Went up to Toronto on Saturday with Mr. le Chapeau to watch the production of Copenhagen at the Winter Gardens. It was a bit of a long day, really, though I slept through Tai Chi class in the morning. I had been up really late the night before, mostly getting drunk at the International Bitter and Loneliness Day event. There was also a stretch of me trying out a MMPORG called Puzzle Pirates which is a pretty cool concept, though I doubt I'll pony up for a subscription to play.
Copenhagen is a play about what might have taken place between a Neils Bohr, and Heisenberg when they met in 1941 German controlled Denmark. The meeting is known to have taken place, but what they actually talked about is not. This play speculates what it might have been about.
Without giving much away, I found the play surprisingly enjoyable. Given the somewhat geeky nature of the principle characters, I suppose there was at least something guaranteed to be interesting about it. But the characters had a lot of depth and conviction, and emotion. It was hard not to get caught up in the story they were telling.
Off to Ottawa this weekend, for more fun and culture.
